Alaska July/August 2007
July 30 - Saddlebag Lake
This hike was how we spent the mid-day. We hiked out to the lake and
had lunch that we made that morning. This was a fairly flat hike. which
I think was about
an hour and a half each way. The distance was 2.87 miles each way. The
park map says 3.1 miles.
In terms of flower pictures, this was probably the best hike we had,
and I had time to stop and take pictures. Pictures of the flowers can
be found here

The topo is not quite correct in that the road from highway 10 does go
to the beginning of the red line. This map is made up of two topos, and
the top topo must be older as it shows the lake filled with the glacier
which it is not anymore.
Here is the profile of the hike

There is not much elevation gain/loss on this hike, 313 up and 129
down.
At the beginning of the hike, it looked like a rain forest:

Pictures at the lake:

As you can see this was typical weather, low clouds, some misting. Not
much of the glacier left relative to the lake
