Trip to England, Monaco, and France - June 2002

This whole trip log is still under construction

After the end of the school year, we left for a trip to England, Monaco and France.

We literally left at the end of the school year, leaving directly from David's graduation.

Most of the pictures taken were on the Canon D30, a 3 megapixel digital SLR. Some pictures were also taken by David on his Canon Rebel G. Since I took 251 pictures (although they all won't make it online), I have divided up the travelog into 4 sections corresponding to the areas we stayed in. A neat feature of this camera and the software, is that I have a history of each picture in terms of settings and time. I took the time to put all of the pictures into a spreadsheet, to help me write these pages, and see what worked and what did not work. If you are interested, the table can be had by clicking here.

London
We flew from Denver to London through Chicago, leaving on June 5, and arriving the next day in London. We spent one night in London, visiting The British Museum on the day we landed and The Tower of London on the day we left.

Cap-d Ail / Monaco
We left London via the Eurostar to Paris, subway'd from Gare du Nord to Gare d'Austerlitz, where we caught an overnight train that took us to Cap-d Ail, which is literally across the street from Monaco. We arrived on June 8 and left on June 11. Monaco is much more expensive than it was 20 years ago. We visited the sites, the Exotic Gardens / Caves, Aquarium, Ship Museum.

Paris / Chartes / Versailles
We caught a TGV back to Paris. We stayed in Paris for 5 nights, arriving June 11, and leaving for Southampton on June 16. In Paris, we visited The Musee Marmoton, Musee D'Orsey, The Pompidou (don't go there), Sainte Chapelle, Notre Dame, Chartes and Versaille.

Southampton / Portsmith
We arrived in Southampton late on June 16, visited the navel museums in Portsmith and started our journey home on June 18.
